Grade 7 Science: AHA Moments with Microscopes!
The start to our new unit, “What Makes Me Alive?” was really thrilling this week as Grade 7 students discovered the world of cells, and living creatures. The highlight was witnessing their “AHA” moments as they used microscopes for the very first time to view slides of various organisms. Their faces lit up with excitement and confidence as they carefully handled the microscopes, identified the different parts, and learned how each part works.
At the beginning of the week, the pupils discussed the concept of living and non-living in things and then began to understand the structure of living things. This type of practical experience usually arouses children’s curiosity and helps them to get a strong understanding of the cell theory.
We were also honored to have Mr. Ali, a physicist from the Ministry of Education, visit our class during these activities. He was truly impressed by the students’ inquisitive nature and thoughtful questions as they explored the microscopic world.
Next week, we’ll be examining animal and plant cells and learning about the unique functions of different cell organelles.
