There’s been lots of action on the basketball court over the past few weeks with some excellent skills on display and some very exciting games. The ABIS girls have been playing some great basketball and have won all their matches by a relatively comfortable margin although in some of the games they were tested early on. The ABIS boys have also won all their games but two of those games were far from easy. The most exciting game was against the boys from the Bangladeshi School who raced away to an early 11-1 lead before our boys eventually found their feet and clawed their way back into the game. After half time David, Newton, Kameron and Isaac strung some points together to actually go out to a 13 point lead. The Bangladeshi boys weren’t finished however and sunk four 3 point shots to draw back to within a point. Newton, Julio and Ishtiaq sank some vital baskets in the final quarter and after a tense final few minutes ABIS ran out winners 48-43. The boys had another close game the following week and were without David against a tall Sohar Park team. In a game of very strong defense the boys showed a lot of determination and teamwork to hold on to win 30-22. For ABIS Newton led the way with 12 points with all the boys getting on the scoreboard for valuable points.
With ABIS teams undefeated they are both on top of their ladders with Sohar Park second in the girls and Bangladeshi Boys second in the boys. Goooo ABIS.
