During this week, Grade 8 students completed the analysis of the poem “The Clay” by Elia Abu Madi. They explored its central theme, which emphasizes that all human beings share the same origin—clay—highlighting the idea of equality and rejecting social and class distinctions created by people themselves.Students examined the literary devices used in the poem, such as metaphors and similes, and discussed how these elements helped convey the poet’s message in a clear and impactful way. They also learned about the poet’s style, which combines simplicity with depth, a key feature of Mahjar literature.

Furthermore, students connected the poem’ message to real-life situations by discussing values such as humility, respect for others, and avoiding arrogance. The lessons were highly interactive, with students actively participating, sharing their interpretations, and demonstrating a deeper understanding of the poem and its meaningful message.
