We generally fail to do well when we put off tasks for later (procrastination) Yet we often don’t confront the reasons. We choose to feel bad about it because we should have done whatever it was we had to do but didn’t do.

Procrastination is us being emotional beings. We don’t feel like it. We don’t like the subject. We are anxious, avoiding, non-confrontational. Until we are called to account. Then it is too late… the damage is done – a missed deadline, a loved one let down.

To move forward and break the cycle is to take a moment to appreciate and assess what it is that is stopping you from starting. Then perhaps give yourself a start – by promising yourself a reward when it is completed. Just commit to making a start – the first step. Acknowledge your feelings and then do it anyway. Growth is achieved through persistence. And you will start to feel better about yourself!
