In the French classes, at the end of every unit, the students get to watch a movie related to French and sometimes, when available, connected to the unit we just studied. We always watch the movie in French, using English subtitles. The movies I choose vary from French classics to movies from other French-speaking countries, or even movies from other origins but linked to our themes. It is a great opportunity for the students to be exposed to the language as well as broaden their cultural knowledge.

The Grade 7 and 8 are currently watching ‘Les Schtroumpfs’ (The Smurfs), an American film, based on the famous Belgian comic book series created by Pierre Culliford, a.k.a Peyo, in 1958.
