Students have been working hard while working remotely from home. I feel these last 2 weeks has been a reminder of how much we appreciate being face to face at school….

Most classes have been DEVELOPING IDEAS while at home. That means documenting their product specifications and then sketching ideas.

In addition students have been creating “wordles” where students create shapes using words……
We launched the partially completed unit plan over the last 2 weeks. The unit is centered around the community and how students can create a product for local a community. It is a student lead unit where they have a choice of creating a digital or physical product. Student products are varied, ranging from, Mexican cooking recipes, to basketball tshirts to promoting Sohar and ABIS. I am certainly excited about seeing the outcomes of this unit.
Students have been learning new project management tools and methodology. Specifically they have looking at creating Gantt charts to document their materials and manufacturing processes. They also explored flowcharts which we hope to use more often.
Grade 8 students sharpened their specifications this week and then have been finalizing final sketches based of their original ideas. Next week we start the process of creating our cement pavers which will include metaphors of their identity!! Ask you children what metaphors they wish to represent. The outcome will be to create a pathway between LC2 and the workshop.
Grade 7 students have been refining their specifications of their bird encouragement products as well as completing sketches of their ideas. Lots of fun was had creating wordles as well!!
