Special thanks to the sixteen ABIS community service students, parents, and teachers who turned out for a painting party last weekend which brought a little color into the new ABIS Eco-center. When you walk into the front of the campus, you won’t easily miss the freshly painted staked shipping containers with contrasting colors of blue, orange, and green. These shipping containers will house a rebooted ABIS recycling program which is soon to be collecting all types of plastic, glass, paper, and metal for recycling. Recycled materials will be processed both on campus with our own recycling machines, (i.e. grinder for plastics & a molding machine for creating new products from melted plastic), and off campus through an organization we are working with called Plasbin. This forward thinking ABIS Eco-center is representative of the school’s mission and vision of becoming globally minded citizens who care very much about the environment in which we all share. More news will be coming out soon regarding when and where you can bring your recyclable materials to the Eco-center, and about the great work that ABIS and Plasbin are doing to bring recycling into the limelight of Oman!
