On Sunday, Jaira (G7) and Trina (G8) as part of their personal project worked together with the secondary Community Service team to invite the organization called Wadi Wranglers to visit ABIS. Wadi Wranglers is family run animal rights organization based in Muscat, Oman. They believe in taking care of the Oman’s wadi dogs through caring for them and giving them homes, medical support, and Love. They often work closely with several veterinarians to find “humane” ways of controlling the wadi dog population through spaying and neutering.
Wadi Wranglers was founded by Tanya (from the U.S.) and her husband Anton (from S.A.). On their visit to ABIS they brought with them 6 of their 22 well behaved friendly wadi dogs. During her presentation, Tanya shared with ABIS students from G2 up to G10 about how she decided to follow her dreams of making a difference in the lives of the wadi dogs of Oman. She had a fascinating story to tell about how saving one sick / injured dog turned into nursing back to health another and then another and on and on, through medical treatment, healthy food, exercise, and lots of Love. During and after her presentation students got to pet some of the wadi dogs that Tanya and Anton saved. It is great to see these wadi dogs that were near death are now living out healthy happy lives.

This inspiring story has encouraged the secondary Community Service team to start our own animal rights group called, ABIS PAWS! Watch for this team of students who is dedicated to supporting the wadi dogs (and cats) living in and around Sohar and Oman!
