Well done to our football teams for their efforts last week against Sohar International School. The 10&U boys went down 3-0 after conceding three first half goals but grew in confidence to really improve in a goalless second half. Dawood played an excellent game in goal while John, Nijhaan and George were very strong in defense. Osama worked tirelessly all over the field and worked hard to put a goal on the scoresheet for ABIS.
The 12&U game was a reversal with our boys being strong all over the pitch and dominating possession with good passing and composure on the ball. Diego scored the first goal after a number of opportunities in the first half while Hector finished off some good passing for a goal in the second half and a 2-0 victory. Special mention goes to Jules and Mels for their great defensive effort.
The senior game was an exciting affair with the scores being locked at 2-2 at the final whistle. Shalin opened the scoring with a fine long range free kick before a defensive lapse allowed SIS back into the game right on half time. The second half was very tight and SIS scored early in the second half to put on the pressure. ABIS came back strongly and had a number of opportunities with Isaac coming close with a couple of shots before Shalin was fouled in the box. Shalin calmly converted the penalty to equalize and although we dominated the final minutes we couldn’t break the deadlock. Well done all the boys on a solid effort with Saif and Akram having great games in defense and David playing strongly out wide.
