Hello all

On October 28, the grades seven and eight students will be performing at the end of the week assembly. They have created their first dance work of the year using the following criteria:

1. Choose an Expressive Intent (what message do I want my audience to see?)

2. Use of an A-B-A format (where the first and last part of the dance are echoes of each other, but the middle section is different – all parts enhancing the dance’s message)

3. The development of two motifs (sets of steps), one that is manipulated and expressed in part A of the dance and the other used and arranged in Part B of the dance. Both motifs must serve the message that is being given.

4. The restriction to instrumental music only

The students have been responsible for ensuring a varied use of the Choreographic Principles are employed, including Force, Levels, Space and Tempo.  They are also responsible for determining what to wear that also supports their expressive intent.

Come and see their first pieces of dance works for the year!
