This week students have been focusing on using their calendars, organising their folders and notes, and updating their personal websites with finished work (see the featured picture). Many were also involved with helping organise ‘Movie Night’ as a CAS ‘Service’ project. They are reflecting on what went well, what didn’t, and how to make the next one more effective. One of the great things about the CAS system is how it teaches students to host an event and make it really successful, often through trial and error at first. The reflection aspect is essential in them improving their skills and learning to work effectively as part of a team.

One of the ways that parents can support from home is looking at their child’s personal website and commenting on their work. If a student hasn’t added anything in a particular subject for a while then you can ask them why not? On average they should be posting examples of their work in each subject every couple of weeks.

Additionally, a lot of work has also been done by the Secondary teachers on the look and feel of the new school reports and we hope that parents will see an improvement in the quality of the reports this half semester (mid November) and full semester (end of January). The Head of School, Neil Tomalin, is coordinating this process and will share information on these improvements and changes at a later date.

There is much to do in the Secondary School after the break so we will certainly need to rest to build up our energy reserves! Eid Mubarak and I wish you an enjoyable break if you are fortunate enough to have one.
