Twice a week students in the Secondary Learning Suite will start their day huddled around a teacher on the proverbial carpet. If you thought story time was only for primary kids, you thought wrong. Read-alouds are an integral element of the Reader’s Workshop. They provide opportunities for deep talk about texts and allow teachers to demonstrate reading strategies and scaffold comprehension skills. Our secondary staff will take turns as tour guide on excursions through a variety of text types. Itineraries could include articles, maps, advertisements, menus, songs; any visual text could be a possible destination.
