In Grade 8 Science, we are currently exploring the chemistry of biomolecules, an important topic that connects chemistry to living systems. Students have been introduced to the major groups of biomolecules, including carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids, and are beginning to understand their structures and functions within the body. This week, our focus was on enzymes, where students used case studies to deepen their understanding of how these biological catalysts work and why they are essential for life processes.

Looking ahead, students will participate in practical food tests as part of a hands-on inquiry activity. This will allow them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a laboratory setting, helping to reinforce their understanding through experimentation and observation. The students have been actively engaged in this unit so far and are responding positively to the interactive and inquiry-based approach to learning.
