Grade 7 science students have learned from their introduction to forces, energy and work by way of doing experiments in the lab this week to get a hands on experience of base and derived quantities. In the lab, they conducted hands on experiments to measure temperature, mass, time, current, voltage and area using instruments. To further develop their understanding, students measured time and distance on the track field to calculate their own speed, thus reinforcing concepts of motion and other derived quantities like speed. As they master these basics they are ready to move into the study of forces and their effects over the coming weeks.
