Grade  8 science are through with the term 1 unit in science. Our statement of inquiry; “How can we change matter to make it more useful?” has helped drive the inquiry  from basic concepts such as changes of state and kinetic theory to more complex separation techniques involving matter such as simple distillation. Students have also considered the impact of crude oil separation into different fractions in Oman using fractional distillation. In linking the unit to service as action, the Grade 8 will create awareness of climate change to students and parents by designing pieces of artwork inspired by changes of state. They will experiment with different mediums, styles, and concepts to convey unique perspectives of climate change. Some of the artwork will be based on rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, destruction of polar bear habitats, wildfires, heat waves etc.
