It’s been a big week on the basketball court with two girl’s games against Palm Gardens based teams on Monday and a senior boys game against an army team on Wednesday. First up were our junior girls who had an exiting and evenly matched game against a very eager opposition. The passing and teamwork from our girls was fantastic and the goals were evenly spread for ABIS as they ran out eventual winners 14-9. Well done Natalie, Maria, Fatima, Kate, Lilli and Jesmika on a great game.
Our 14yr girls proved to be much too classy for their opposition with all the girls – Courtney, Tay’a, Andrea, Sara, Andee, Zyrelle and Jaira having strong games. Sara in particular had her best game yet for ABIS with some fancy dribbling skills through the legs and behind the back before scoring some nice lay-ups. The girls were so strong that they increased their lead when playing against an all boy combination.
On Wednesday our boys turned into men when they stood up against a strong and physical army team. Our boys put on the first 6 points of the game and held the opposition scoreless for the first 6 minutes in what turned out to be a game dominated by defense. The army came back in the third quarter to take the lead but some great shooting and excellent team defense in the fourth saw our boys walk off the court with the score at 27-26. A special well done to David who scored most of our points but he was very well supported by Jed, Kameron, Isaac, Newton and Klint. Well done boys.
