It’s been a busy week in the gym with a cricket match against Sohar International School, basketball against the Sohar Aluminiun Men’s team, a gymnastics assembly and the final matches of Inter House Football.

CRICKET – ABIS won the toss and sent SIS into bat. The ABIS bowlers did a great job with Harsh and Abhishek keeping runs to a minimum, David almost getting a hatrick and Teja and Abhinav doing well with their overs to keep SIS to a total of 102. The bowlers were well supported by their fielders with Tahlyn taking a couple of good catches and Courtney doing well behind the stumps. Although the run chase started badly with a first ball run out Teja and Abhninav steadied to put on a 35 run partnership. Abhishek and Yann built slowly and added another 23 to the score to be 58 at the half way mark. David and Courtney lost a couple of early wickets but a couple of smashing sixes from David got the score to within 24 runs for the final batting pair of Harsh and Sanna. They got to 100 with 3 balls to spare before a great catch off a screaming shot from Harsh swung things SIS’s way and the final score ended at 102-96.

Basketball – What a great effort for our senior boys to really stand up and match it with some of the best in Sohar on Wednesday night. David was dominating, Klint was awesome, Newton was fantastic, Kameron amazing and Jed “on fire” as they played controlled and skillful basketball to lift their play to a higher level. Mixed with 2 adults from the Brazilian Vale team we had 3 ABIS students and 2 adults on the court at all times and went on to win the game 80-50. A big thanks to Sohar Aluminium for giving us the opportunity to play against some good opposition and to the Vale guys for helping us develop our play around the court.
