Happy Thursday and Ramadan Kareem to all!
We have completed the 22 weeks of the academic year. This has been an exciting week as we have been celebrating assessments of learning and assessment of learnings in school. It is good to see everyone full of energy and this semester is going great. It is just awesome to see you everyday. Here’s a look at the incredible things we did this week and the exciting adventures ahead!
🚀 Grade 7: Defining Mathematical relationships using expressions!
You absolutely rocked this week while simplifying mathematical expressions. You learnt the mathematical language and its conversion from english to mathematical expressions. You have used this learning and understanding of Mathematical language to complete the criterion B and C investigation this week. You are inquiring into the simplification of the algebraic expressions which is a great highlight of the week for me. You will now continue learning mathematical expressions and equations to prepare for criterion A summative in near future.
💡 Grade 8: Mastering Linear Algebra and applying them in real-life!
This week, we practised to find the point of intersection using graphical and algebraic methods. The algebraic methods that you learnt are the substitution method and elimination methods and applied them in assessment of learning (summative). We also discussed the math summative answers and you self-assessed your work. The engagement during these inquiries are the best thing to experience this week too. We will start with basic concepts of geometry next week.
✨ Grade 9: Exploring the triangles and travelling in dimensions!
This week, we have explored trigonometry, bearings, angle of elevation and depression in real-life situations and explored pythagoras theorems and trigonometry in solids . We have done formal assessments for learning (Summatives). It is good to see that some of the students are going the extra mile to enhance their math skills. This engagement is very encouraging. Next week, we will start with data handling in the new units.
📈 Grade 10: Exploring data reasoning and probability!
This week we have started with data handling. We are exploring bivariate data analysis using mathematical tools such as scatter graphs, correlation and regression. The use of technology is the main highlight of the week. Next week, we will begin with sets and probability along with revision of concepts of statistics.
🎯 Grade 11: Exploring Trigonometry and solids!
The learning engagement this week has been fantastic! We inquired into the unit on geometry and trigonometry exploring surface area and volume of solids, and applied Pythagoras theorem and trigonometry in right angled and non-right- angled triangles. We have completed the theoretical part of the concepts and solved the exam style questions of paper 2 which involves long questions. Next week, we will continue problem solving with geometry leading to summative assessment based on paper 2.
You have all earned a wonderful and restful weekend break. Let’s meet again on Sunday with lots of energy and excitement to learn and explore!!!
