This week the kindergarten children have continued their understanding of moving to the beat. They listened to the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky and identified the characters in the story. The soldiers moved to the beat and the mice moved freely. Students were then given agency to choose the right instruments for the characters.

Year 1 and 2 are learning how to play the glockenspiel by reading the notes on the staff. They have shown the ability to follow instructions, listen to each other and respond to the music.

Grade 3 have started the recorder with enthusiasm. They have been issued a recorder with a bar code to help us keep track of the instruments. The first notes we will learn are B, A and G.

The ukulele has proved to be a popular instrument in grade 4 because it is light and easy to hold. Students can make a pleasing sound almost immediately. Grade 4 have learnt the open strings and we are learning the song Everybody loves Saturday Night.

Wishing you all a great weekend,

Mr. Mike
