This week in Information Literacy classes grade 3-6 students learned how to access the library home page , bookmark it, log in using their ABIS email and password, and request books. We have been working on library routines and following directions. Here in the library we love seeing the student’s excited faces when they come to check out their requested books! Students may take out two books at a time for a two week period. They can return them anytime before the due date. On the library homepage they can access which books they have out, what the due dates are, and they can also renew the book if they need more time. There is even a place where they can start an “I want to read” list in their “Favorites”.

Grade 6 is the top homeroom borrower this week, with grade 4 coming in second. The top requested and borrowed book this week is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Old School” By Jeff Kinney.

K1-grade 2 students have read stories about visiting the library. They have brainstormed the best ways to behave in a library, and started talking about how we take care of books. Some of the books we have read are “No T Rex in the Library” by Toni Buzzeo and “Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies” by Carolyn Crimi.

Grade 4 and 5 enjoyed “Our Librarian Never Tells us Anything” by Toni Buzzeo and grade 6 investigated “Grandfather’s Journey” by Allen Say. Some of the classes have also begun to learn about using our online subscription to Britannica.
