I have been a very lucky teacher this week as I have had the privilege to watch some very exciting high jump action in the lead up to Sports Day. There have been some monumental battles and some outstanding performances. In the Grade 5 girls Coco’s excellent technique shone through as she jumped 1.12m. In the Grade 6 boys Sachin showed great athleticism to jump 1.34m which was as high as David and Isaac in Grade 9. One of the most exciting events was the 3 way battle between Courtney, Sanna and Alla with Courtney coming through with a fantastic final jump.In Grade 7&8 Shalin and Kameron were neck and neck until after looking down and out Kameron produced the jump of the day. In the 9&10s both girls and boys were tight affairs as David took the honors on a count back from Isaac as they both finished on the same height and Trisha just edged Andee in another great duel. The senior boys high jump is always a spectacular event with a lot of oohing and aahing as the boys climb ever higher up the scale. After passing the 1.5m mark Eckhart couldn’t quite match William’s school record of 1.53 which he jumped on his first attempt. Congratulations also to Diego and Lilli winners in Grade 3, Sultan and Bobby winners in Grade 4, Sultan winner of Grade 5 boys, Sara winner of Grade 7&8 girls and Clarissa in the senior girls.
High Jump Highs.
