Students in both Primary and Secondary have been competing in their high jump events for part of Sports Day.
In Grade 4 a lot of points went the Leopards way with Marius winning the boys by a touch from Sultan and Quennie winning the girls in a count back from Nuru.
In Grade 5/6 Sachin put in a dynamic performance and was still going at 1.25 m when he had to stop due to time. The girl’s event was much closer with Sanna winning in a tight tussle from Courtney and Alla.
The Grade 7/8 competition ended in a bit of an upset with the favorites in both events being outdone. In the boys David came storming home in his last few jumps after almost being out of the competition with some early misses. He saved his best for last and made the final height on his first attempt to put Isaac into second and Anton third. In the girls it was a tussle between Andee and Trisha with Trisha who survived after two misses at 1.10m making her first attempt at 1.18m for the win.
In the Grade 9/10s Valerie continued to improve to take first place from Corinne in the girls. In the boys competition Alex and Williams put on a great show of high jumping with Alex making a personal best of 1.51m but it wasn’t quite enough to dethrone Williams who won on a count back.
Well done all students on their efforts and it was pleasing to see many students using excellent high jump techniques in their jumps.
