The MYP 5 students are currently preparing for their IDU eAssessment which is a critical component of their final examinations in May. This interdisciplinary study explores whether human identity is “programmed” by biology or “performed” through social construction. By integrating Science (genetics, somatotypes, and the impact of ultra-processed foods) with Individuals & Societies (social conditioning and food accessibility), students are moving beyond simple nature-vs-nurture debates. This synthesis allows them to analyze identity as a dynamic, evidence-based system, directly preparing them for the inquiry-based nature of the official assessment.

To build these analytical skills, students have completed five key formative tasks: the Stimuli Scavenger Hunt, Guiding Questions, Inquiry Questions, the Disciplinary Deep Dive, and the “Identity Equation” Pilot. Having completed several collaborative group tasks to explore the eight pre-release stimuli, an individual task (Disciplinary Deep Dive deadline on April 22nd) has now been assigned to them to demonstrate their independent understanding.

Throughout this process, our teachers are dedicatedly committing their time and expertise in every session to facilitate deep inquiry and ensure every student is rigorously prepared for the exam. Students are encouraged to remain heavily engaged with the resources on Google Classroom to ensure they are fully ready for the final eAssessment.
