Grade 8 science students have started their unit focusing on the human impact on ecosystems and Earth systems, challenging them to rethink what sustainability means today. During a visit to the school farm, they observed a living ecosystem in action, explored the concept of systems through multiple perspectives, and discussed related ideas of balance and interaction. In groups, students debated and then presented their understanding of key terminology.
Now, the spotlight turns to developing their research skills where each learner will investigate a chosen ecosystem, evaluate human influences, and construct or illustrate a 3D model as part of their Criterion D summative project.
