All MYP French classes are embarking on new units as we start our Second Semester. We are all excited to discover new contexts in which we can learn, practice and develop our French skills. In Grade 7, we are starting a unit on Physical Appearance to describe how we look and what we like wearing. In Grade 8, we are starting a unit about Food in our home countries and around the world, especially in other French speaking countries. In Grade 9, we are starting a unit about School, looking at the different school systems in French speaking countries as well as why it is important to go to school. We will also ask ourselves if going to school is a right or a privilege. Finally, in Grade 10, we are starting our IDU (English, Arabic, French) about Migration and creative writing. All these units will be assessed formatively first to ensure the learning of the students, then summatively to assess the learning of the students. Each class will also work on an end of unit project that will allow the students to use the key content in semi-authentic situations. Parents, don’t hesitate to ask your child about their learning and learn a bit of French with them.
