Welcome to Week 8!
First of all, I would like to wish you a very happy and restful term break and onset of good weather. In school, It’s been another incredible week of growth, discovery, and high energy across all our math classrooms.
Grade 9 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: After the summative on exponents and surds, we are exploring the percentage change and its application to the real-life. Students have worked collaboratively and presented their knowledge and understanding of percentage growth and decay in real-life. They are currently solving text book questions and delta math questions to develop a deeper understanding of the concept.
- Student Spotlight (Highlight of the Week! ): Huge congratulations to our Grade 9s for demonstration of their discoveries, understanding about the financial mathematics thorough presentations and applying the understanding in problem-solving.
- Looking Ahead: Next week after coming back after break, we will continue percentages and applications into growth and decay and prepare for criterion C and D summative on the concept.
Grade 10 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: Students have completed the summative assessment and the feedback is given to them on Assessprep. We are now exploring the real-life applications of the functions/models and getting ready for the formative and summative based on the criteria C and criteria D.
- Student Spotlight: High praise to our Grade 10s for their strong understanding and active participation. Students have reflected on the feedback from the summative and are preparing for the criteria C and D assessments in November.
- Looking Ahead: Next week after the break, students will continue to dive deeper in the real-life applications of the functions and models while applying their knowledge and understanding of the functions and algebra.
Grade 11 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: We used this week to reflect on the summative assessment and moved on to the next topic of the transformation of graphs.
- Student Spotlight: Shoutout to our Grade 11 DP students for their ongoing dedication and courage to go ahead as per the unit plan. The syllabus is going slow but learning outcomes are great.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we’ll continue with transformation and real-life modeling skills.
Grade 12 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: Seniors mastered applications of the differentiation in optimization. They also completed the second version of summative on paper 1 and paper 2. This has led to improvement in grades for some.
- Student Spotlight: This week has been a celebration of the perseverance shown by some of the seniors in math assessment.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we will start learning the concept of anti-differentiation while revising the differentiation techniques.
Thank you to all our parents and students for another wonderful week of learning and connection. Have a restful and refreshing October break!
Warmly,
Mr. Arun
