Grade 8 Mathematics has wrapped up the Forms of Numbers unit, exploring rational and irrational numbers, laws of indices, standard form and surds. Students completed a summative assessment targeting Criteria A (Knowing and Understanding) and C (Communicating), applying their mathematical knowledge, demonstrating problem solving and presenting their working clearly. The assessment scripts have now been marked, and students have completed their revision, reflecting on their progress and identifying areas for further improvement. This marks an important step in strengthening their numerical reasoning and confidence as they progress through the MYP Mathematics curriculum.

After a well-deserved break, we will move into Algebraic Expressions, where students will develop their skills in simplifying, expanding and manipulating algebraic expressions while exploring how algebra can represent patterns and relationships. We aim to work towards summative assessments covering Criteria A, B and D, giving students opportunities to demonstrate their mathematical understanding, investigate patterns and apply mathematics to real-life contexts. We look forward to building on the progress made so far and continuing to develop confident, independent mathematical thinkers!
