Welcome to Week 7!
It’s been another incredible week of growth, discovery, and high energy across all our math classrooms.
Grade 9 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: We completed the summative based on exponents, radicals and surds, addition, subtraction, multiplication, expansion surds, simplifying them using the FOIL rule, and rationalization of the denominator. After the summative, we started exploring the percentage change and its application to the real-life.
- Student Spotlight (Highlight of the Week! ): Huge congratulations to our Grade 9s for completing the summative assessment on the Assessprep and demonstration of their discoveries, understanding about the financial mathematics thorough presentations.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we will continue percentages and applications into growth and decay and prepare for criterion C and D summative on the concept.
Grade 10 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: After reflecting on our learning through a formative assessment. Students are enhancing their learning through continuous revision of concepts. The discussions during the classes are quite engaging and productive. They have also completed the summative assessment based on the same topics.
- Student Spotlight: High praise to our Grade 10s for their strong understanding and active participation. Many of the students have taken more responsibility for their learning and they are attending support classes to ensure maximum learning outcomes.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, students will dive deeper in the real-life applications of the functions and models while applying their knowledge and understanding of the functions and algebra.
Grade 11 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: We used this week to revise the graphs, key features of the graph, and domain and range of functions. We have also dived deeper into sign diagrams for functions and are practiced to prepare for the summative assessment. We also completed the summative assessment.
- Student Spotlight: Shoutout to our Grade 11 DP students for their ongoing dedication and courage to go ahead as per the unit plan. The syllabus is going slow but learning outcomes are great.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we’ll review the summative assessment and focus on function modeling in real-life situations.
Grade 12 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: Seniors mastered applications of the differentiation in identifying the increasing and decreasing functions leading to finding the local maxima, local minima and stationary point of inflection, completed the review of the summative assessment based on paper 1 and paper 2. They have also started applying these concepts to optimize the functions.
- Student Spotlight: Massive recognition to our seniors for their determination and solid grasp of calculus techniques and its ongoing applications. Also, the timely submission of math explorations. The feedback is already given on Managebac.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we will continue applying our differentiation application skills of identifying the local maxima and minima to optimization of the functions.
Thank you to all our parents and students for another wonderful week of learning and connection. Have a restful and refreshing weekend!
Warmly,
Mr. Arun
