Week 1 | Academic Year 2026–2027
Welcome back to a brand-new, rhythm-filled school year at Al Batinah International School! The music room has officially come alive again with the joyful sounds of singing, stamping, playing, and creating. It has been an absolute delight welcoming our students back and diving straight into the wonderful world of sound and stage.
Here is a look at what musical adventures unfolded across our year levels during Week 1!
Early Years & Lower Primary (KG 1, KG 2, Grade 1 & Grade 6)
Theme: Summer Tales, Rhythms, and Dramatic Play
Our youngest learners and Grade 1 students kicked off the year by reconnecting and sharing their favorite “Tales of Summer Adventures.” Through imaginative play, we transformed those sunny stories into physical movement, body percussion, and lively rhythm games.
Meanwhile, our Grade 6 students stepped up as fantastic role models, diving right into creative collaboration. Working with foundational music rhythms and notes blended seamlessly with energetic drama games. There were plenty of laughs, fantastic focus, and wonderful team-building as students found their groove and shook off the holiday rust!
Upper Primary Explorers
Theme: Notation, Keys, and Setting Sail
Our upper primary musicians hit the ground running this week, diving deep into an exciting review of rhythm and music notation. Students sharpened their reading skills and took an exploratory look at the piano keyboard, connecting visual layout to auditory pitch.
By revisiting and building upon their prior knowledge, the upper primary students are laying a rock-solid foundation as they prepare to continue their grand musical voyage this year. The creativity and curiosity in the room are already off the charts!
 Looking Ahead
As we wrap up an incredible first week, the stage is set for an amazing year of artistic growth, expression, and discovery. Keep those listening ears open, and we will see you next week for more musical fun!
