Happy Thursday to all!
We have completed the 24 weeks of the academic year. This has been an exciting week as we have been celebrating assessments of learning and assessment of learnings in school. It is good to see everyone full of energy and this semester is going great. It is just awesome to see you everyday. Here’s a look at the incredible things we did this week and the exciting adventures ahead!
🚀 Grade 7: Defining Mathematical relationships using expressions!
You absolutely rocked this week while simplifying mathematical expressions. You learnt the simplification of the algebraic expressions leading to solution of equations and substitution into the mathematical equations. You have also practiced one criterion A assessment on google classroom. This practice will provide opportunities to review your understanding. Some students are really enjoying it and they are coming up to solve questions in front of the class which is a great highlight of the week for me. You will now continue learning mathematical expressions and equations to prepare for criterion A summative in near future.
💡 Grade 8: Mastering Geometry!
This week, we are inquiring into the concepts of geometry. We are focussing on prior knowledge of triangles and extended this inquiry into quadrilaterals and polygons. The engagement during these inquiries are the best thing to experience this week too. We will continue with basic concepts of geometry next week as well extending it to interior and exterior angles of polygons, area and perimeter of 2 dimensional geometrical figures.
✨ Grade 9: Exploring the data and its visualisation!
This week, we are in the middle of data exploration. We reviewed the types of data, measures of central tendency, measures of spread focussed on Range and IQR. Students have learnt how to find the five-point summary and use it to make a box and whisker plot. The highlight of the week is that “the students have volunteered to reflect on their understanding through a practice test” . Next week, we will start with grouped and bivariate data handling.
📈 Grade 10: Exploring data reasoning and probability!
This week we have started with probability . We explored simple probability and extended the inquiry into the combination of events and their probabilities using tree diagrams, sets and Venn Diagrams . The biggest highlight for me is that students are confident and they are eager to solve questions before the teacher. Next week, we will continue with probability problem-solving of complex and challenging questions.
🎯 Grade 11: Exploring data using statistics!
The learning engagement this week has been fantastic! We inquired into data handling through inquiring into the sampling methods, reliability and validity of sampling and statistical processes of finding measures of central tendencies and measures of spread. The best highlight of the week is the presentation of the learning in collaboration by students. Next week, we will continue problem solving with statistics and probability.
You have all earned a wonderful and restful weekend break. Let’s meet again on Sunday with lots of energy and excitement to learn and explore!!!
