Happy Thursday, math enthusiasts! π
Can you believe it’s already Week 4? It’s been an absolute pleasure seeing all the hard work and progress in our classrooms. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next.
π Grade 7: Fractions, Decimals & Percentages
This past week was all about making connections between fractions, decimals, and percentages. It’s been fantastic to see so many of you jump right in, with some even going above and beyond! Your enthusiasm is infectious. Next week, we’ll dive into the world of Lowest Common Multiples (LCM) and Highest Common Factors (HCF). These concepts are like building blocks for more advanced math, and they’re crucial for simplifying fractions.
π‘ Grade 8: Numbers & Notations
You’ve all been tackling some tricky topics this week, from rational and irrational numbers to scientific notation. I’m so proud to report that many of you showed 100% accuracy in your understanding! That’s a huge achievement. Now that you’ve got a solid foundation, we’re ready to start building. Next week, get ready to tackle the fundamentals of algebraic thinking, including expansion and factorization.
β¨ Grade 9: The Power of Exponents
We’ve officially wrapped up our unit on exponents, rational, and irrational numbers. Great job on the formative assessment on Delta Mathβyour proactive approach to solving problems shows how well you’re grasping these ideas. We’ll kick things up a notch next week by applying these concepts to the real world! We’ll explore financial mathematics, and you’ll begin working on your Criterion C and D summative tasks.
π Grade 10: Exploring Functions
This week, you’ve been a joy to watch as you’ve explored functions, their types, and graphs. Your teamwork and willingness to ask questions have made this a truly collaborative experience. It’s awesome to see you all so comfortable with the topic! Next week, we’ll shift our focus to quadratic functions, a powerful tool for modeling curves and parabolas.
π― Grade 11: Straight Lines & Matrices
We took our time with straight lines and matrices for Math AI SL and AI HL, and it paid off! While it was a bit of a challenge, your hard work and perseverance helped you master these concepts. To make sure everything sticks, we’ll start next week with a formative assessment on straight lines before moving on to functions and modeling. Keep up the great work!
Wishing you all a wonderful and restful weekend! You’ve earned it.
Best,
Mr. Arun
