This week G8 students studied a translated novel from world literature, “Around the World in Eighty Days” by Jules Verne. They focused on analyzing the narrative structure, following the sequence of events and the development of the plot until the resolution. The students also discussed the main characters, such as Phileas Fogg, who represents discipline and determination, and Passepartout, who added humor and a human touch.
They further examined the literary elements of time and place, noting how the journey across continents made the novel more exciting and informative. The students showed active engagement by connecting the novel’s adventures to their own lives and reflecting on its messages about punctuality and openness to other cultures.
