One of the activities for our Grade 8 advisory under Service as Action was a learning experience on autism awareness. They recently visited a local autism center close to ABIS, where they interviewed stakeholders and learned much about the world of autism.

As part of their tour, the students learned about a number of basic questions to gain a better insight into the requirements and issues confronting individuals with autism. They inquired about how teachers can provide more inclusive classrooms, what some general myths regarding autism in schools are, and how schools and communities can assist them more.

Students were inspired by the dedication of workers in the center and learned from the vision and mission of the institution. Students discovered the manner in which the center has evolved over time in order to enhance its support services to individuals living with autism as well as incorporating families in the learning process.

This experience not only made them more aware of autism but also fueled a passion to make a positive impact. The students are now better equipped to raise awareness and fight for inclusivity in their community.
