Music Adventures at ABIS – Week 5: Brass, Beats, and Beyond!
🎶 Another week of musical exploration and expression has flown by, and our students have been hitting all the right notes! Let’s dive into the harmonious highlights from Week 5.
Kindergarten: Brass Band Bonanza!
Our littlest learners embarked on a journey through the brass family, discovering the bold sounds of trumpets, trombones, and more! They compared and contrasted these shiny instruments, learning about their unique characteristics and roles in an orchestra. Of course, no Kindergarten music class is complete without some action-packed songs and joyful movement to music. As they danced and sang, they also explored the Learner Profile attribute of caring, reminding us that music is a beautiful way to connect and express ourselves.
Grades 1 & 2: The Feeling is Mutual!
Music has a magical way of stirring our emotions, and our Grade 1 and 2 students delved into this connection. They explored how different melodies, rhythms, and instruments can make us feel happy, sad, excited, or calm. Through singing, playing instruments, and creative movement, they brought their feelings to life and learned to tell stories through the universal language of music.
Grades 3-6: Songbirds, Drum Circles, and More!
Our older students expanded their musical repertoire with new songs, adding beautiful harmonies to their voices. They collaborated in rhythmic drumming and percussion ensembles, experiencing the power of teamwork and the joy of creating music together. Part-singing and instrument exploration further enriched their musical journeys. Throughout these activities, they honed their Approaches to Learning skills, focusing on self-management, communication, and developing creative and critical thinking skills – all essential tools for lifelong learners. And the cherry on top? Many students took their first steps toward mastering a brand-new musical instrument!
