This week was a whirlwind of musical exploration and discovery across all grade levels!

Early Years embarked on a journey through pitch with vibrant rainbow glockenspiels, creating their own “staircase of sound.” We also dove into a new song, fostering the learner profile attributes of caring and respect. Through a delightful butterfly dance, students showcased their creativity and spatial awareness, beautifully interpreting the butterfly’s life cycle through movement and music. Finally, the captivating story of “Peter and the Wolf” introduced the enchanting world of orchestral instruments.

Upper Primary students had a hands-on experience with a variety of instruments, from ukuleles and flutes to clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, the French horn, and percussion. They collaborated in part-singing, honing their self-management and teamwork skills. New songs were introduced, encouraging reflection, caring, and principled behavior. Technology came alive as students explored rhythm and composition, culminating in mini-performances. A deeper dive into the Omani national anthem unveiled the intricate relationship between pitch and rhythm.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! After-school Wind Band is back in full swing! Students had the chance to explore various wind instruments and select their musical companion for the year.

It’s been an inspiring week of musical growth and connection, setting the stage for a fantastic year of music-making! Stay tuned for more updates on our musical adventures!
