Grade 8s have been honing their analytical skills by studying various print advertisements. As a class they memorised the 8 conventions of adverts and then went through a guided process of analysing one ad together. After that, they took on the challenge of choosing their own ad for analysis. Much of this week has been spent on analysis of their individual advertisements. They engaged in collaborative activities to present their analysis to their peers and have an opportunity to get feedback.
Afterwards students were encouraged to give feedback to each other based on Criterion A (analysing). Initially, this was a struggle but after they got more specific support, the students were able to provide valuable feedback to each other.
