Last weekend a group of 15 ABIS students attended a Model United Nations conference at The American International School in Muscat (TAISM).  Our MUN club had another highly successful showing, representing a range of countries across all 4 committees.  Topics up for debate included measures to promote the safety of journalists globally, the relevance of private military companies in regional unrest, measures to protect the victims of ethnic cleansing, and measures to combat global overfishing.  Collectively, ABIS students were main submitters of 40 % of all draft resolutions debated during the conference; an impressive feat to say the least.  Our individual performances were no less noteworthy, with special recognition going to Clara Santana who did a fantastic job as Guest Chair in the General Assembly and Francisco Braga who took home the award for Best Delegate in the Security Council.  We should all be very proud of our dedicated MUN students!  We look forward to the next opportunity to represent ABIS at a future conference.
