Understanding how materials are transported in plants is fundamental to understanding how these materials can be harnessed and used for the benefit of human society. For grade 10, they have been spending the last couple of days planning and designing an investigation to determine how much water plants transport through the stem and the rate as which they do this. Students learnt how to use the potometer and how to determine the rate of transpiration in plants. For the students, this was an enriching experience because it gave them the opportunity to experience what had been emphasized in their lessons in the past four weeks. They are currently analyzing their data and it is expected that this will further enhance their understanding of scientific research.
