The past two weeks the K1- to Grade 2 students have been studying the very popular “Mo Willems” and his pigeon books. The books are hard to keep in the library as the kids really love them! So do I!

Together we looked at Mo Willem’s style, and made a list of things that we noticed. We delved into speech and thought bubbles and what those can be used for. The students discussed how Mr. Willems uses larger text for when his characters are yelling, and smaller text for when they are talking in normal voices, or whispering. Students then drew their own pigeons, and added speech bubbles and text to their pictures. These amazing illustrations are hung up all over the library, walk though and check them out if you happen to be here at school!

Please note these upcoming dates:The last day for student library check out will be June 2nd, and all library books to be returned to the library by June 9th.

Today, May 26th, is the last day to order for the final Scholastic Book Club- link here to order! Lots of fantastic books to encourage summer reading!

Happy Reading!
