This week in the primary Information Literacy classes students have visited the new and improved library for the first time. The library feels like such a happy place when students are here!

K1 and K2 students met one of our new library bookworms, “Dylan”, for the first time. They enjoyed reading  “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” by Eric Carle, and singing about the colors with “I Can Sing a Rainbow”.

Grade 1 students read “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae and also met “Dylan” and Dylan’s friend “Quinn”, our two new library bookworms! They enjoyed reading some books on their own as well.

Grade 2 students enjoyed “Rosie’s Walk” by Pat Hutchins and moving around practicing the direction vocabulary we learned from the book. Boy, that fox was sneaky wasn’t he??

Grade 3 students  read “Rosie Revere, Engineer” by Andrea Beatty, and brainstormed Rosie’s characteristics.

Grade 4 and Grade 6 read “The Cat Man of Aleppo” by Irene Latham, and answer and asked questions as a group.

Grades 3-6 all learned how to access and use the library homepage. They can now request books from the library. They are allowed to take out two books at a time.  It is very exciting to see the students excited about reading, and many of our new books have been flying off the shelves!

Happy Reading!
