As mentioned in the broadcaster last week, MYP classes have been involved in composing musical canons over these past two weeks. We learned what exactly a canon was by watching the following video:
Here are some examples of works in progress which show a fantastic use of chords (one with an extended Minor 7th!) and passing notes to make the melodies more interesting and individual:
You’ll note that each of the students’ composition use the same instruments. This was down to the students’ research into the contemporary brass quintet Seraph Brass. They composed their canon with this ensemble in mind.

Given that students are working entirely online, composing these canons is quite an accomplishment! Well done to all involved!
