Grade 4 students in PE this week were set the challenge of trying to beat the World Record for 1 Mile (1609 meters). This was set by a Morrocan athlete named Hicham El Guerrouj, with an amazing time of 3 minutes 43 Seconds. That’s just over 4 laps of our athletic track!
The class showed brilliant teamwork and inquiry to make a plan. They decided to sprint a small bit each and work together like a relay. They have a new found respect for the top athletes, because despite their brilliant effort and teamwork, their time was 5 minutes 32 seconds.
