Earth Hour
Dear Parents and Students.
Every year we use a lot of electricity. Sometimes the power source is renewable but often it is not.
There is a world wide initiative called Earth Hour. Earth Hour saves an incredible amount of energy and it reminds us that we need to think about the effects of our lifestyles on our planet. Earth Hour in Oman alone is expected to save 90000 kilowatts.
Our UOI for Exhibition is all about the effects of Global Warming on our planet and we felt Earth Hour is one way in which we can take action. There are already many countries that are supporting Earth Hour and this includes big companies and millions of individuals. Another example is schools and we would like ABIS to join the support. Earth Hour is on Saturday so we thought of 2 ways we can show our support. We would like you to convince your parents to do it at home on Saturday the 29th of March for one hour starting at 8:30 pm and ending at 9:30 pm. We are also going to do Earth Hour at school for fifteen minutes at lunch on March 30th, although if teachers want do it for longer they can. We would like to turn all lights off during eating time.
Please help us make Earth Hour a time where we think about how we can be principled and caring members of our planet.
