So, Sri Lanka is less than 2 weeks away! We have been talking about it a lot, not only during our little meetings but also during regular classes. I think everyone is pretty excited about going; however the closer it gets the more nervous we get. We have been doing a bit of work on Sri Lanka. In Maths we looked at some statistics for example the population, the unemployment rate, and literary rate, ect. During geography classes we have looked at LEDC’s (less economically developed countries) and MEDC’s (more economically developed countries) and how they deal with natural disasters. The reason for doing this is because in 2004 Sri Lanka was one of the 11 countries to be hit by the India ocean tsunami and they are still rebuilding the country!
My feelings personally about going to Sri Lanka are currently a bit mixed. I am really excited but I am also quite nervous. I don’t know what to expect Sri Lanka to be like but I think going there and building will be a challenging experience for me personally but also for the group together. I think we are very privileged to be able to be a part of this experience and I am sure we will make the most of it.
