Welcome to Week 6!
It’s been another incredible week of growth, discovery, and high energy across all our math classrooms.
Grade 9 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: We explored radicals and surds. Besides addition, subtraction, multiplication, expansion surds, simplifying them using the FOIL rule, we could learn rationalisation of the denominator.
- Student Spotlight (Highlight of the Week! ): Huge congratulations to our Grade 9s for completing the formative assessment on Assessprep to continue enhancing their skills and understanding.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we will complete the summative assessment on criteria A and C and start revising percentages and applications into growth and decay.
Grade 10 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: After completing the math concepts on exponential functions, mastering key concepts like graphs, reviewed the laws of indices, surds and radicals , the solution of exponential equations and the quadratic functions, forms of quadratic functions leading to graphs and all the important parts of graph, we reflected on our learning through a formative assessment. Students are enhancing their learning through continuous reflections.
- Student Spotlight: High praise to our Grade 10s for their strong understanding and active participation. Some of the students have taken more responsibility for their learning and they are attending support classes.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, students will continue revising and revisiting concepts and complete a summative assessment on the Assessprep based on criterion A and C .
Grade 11 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: We used this week to revise the graphs, key features of the graph, and domain and range of functions. We have also dived deeper into sign diagrams for functions and are currently practicing and preparing for the upcoming summative assessment. The resources are already shared on google classroom.
- Student Spotlight: Shoutout to our Grade 11 DP students for their ongoing dedication and courage to go ahead as per the unit plan.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we’ll review our learning through a summative assessment and focus on function modeling in real-life situations.
Grade 12 Mathematics
- This Week in Our Learning: Seniors mastered applications of the differentiation in identifying the increasing and decreasing functions leading to finding the local maxima, local minima and stationary point of inflection and completed a summative assessment based on paper 1 and paper 2.
- Student Spotlight: Massive recognition to our seniors for their determination and solid grasp of calculus techniques and its ongoing applications. Also, the timely submission of math explorations. The feedback is already given on Managebac.
- Looking Ahead: Next week, we will begin applying our differentiation application skills of identifying the local maxima and minima to optimization of the functions. We will also reflect on the summative assessment based on the concepts covered so far.
Thank you to all our parents and students for another wonderful week of learning and connection. Have a restful and refreshing weekend!
Warmly,
Mr. Arun
