Our Grade 7 scientists spent the week investigating the fundamental nature of physics through a hands-on “Forces Lab,” exploring both contact forces like friction and air resistance and non-contact forces like gravity and magnetism. By comparing the fall of crumpled paper to flat sheets and testing magnetic poles, students gained a tactile understanding of how invisible shoves and pulls shape our world. We concluded the week with a formative assessment to solidify these concepts, and we are now prepared to move into the more technical side of the unit next week, where we will learn to visualize these interactions using free body diagrams and distinguish between balanced and unbalanced forces.
