This week, grade 7 science were involved in a hands-on data collection for their first summative lab report, focusing on Criteria B and C. It’s all about building essential skills in scientific inquiry and experiment design. This involves; outlining a testable problem or question, crafting predictions backed by solid reasoning, manipulating variables while planning how to gather relevant data, and creating safe, logical methods with the right materials and equipment.
Then processing and evaluating data: collecting and organizing data into numerical or visual formats, interpreting results with scientific smarts, checking if predictions held up, assessing the method’s validity, and brainstorming improvements or extensions to make future investigations even better.
Lab reports are due for upload by the end of this week. Next week, we’ll shift gears to Summative Criterion A focusing on our unit on changing matter and separation techniques.
