This week in Grade 11 Chemistry, students began the Reactivity 1 unit, focusing on energy changes during chemical reactions. They learned how to determine if a reaction is endothermic or exothermic by analyzing thermochemical equations from experiments that we did, and practiced using calorimetry data to calculate temperature changes and thermal energy (Q), as well as the enthalpy change (ΔH) of reactions. In addition to these new concepts, students have been reviewing material from previous units-Structure 1, 2, and 3, and Reactivity 3-in preparation for next week’s end-of-year exams. They are encouraged to use all available resources on Google Classroom and Kognity to support their revision and ensure success.
