Performing Arts Weekly Update: Bringing Stories to Life!

This week in Performing Arts, our students stepped into the world of storytelling, expression, and creativity. From our youngest learners in KG1 to our seasoned performers in Grade 6, the energy in the drama studio was nothing short of inspiring.

KG1 – Grade 2: Expressing Emotions Without Words

Our little actors explored how to communicate feelings using just their bodies. Through facial expressions, gestures, and movement, they learned how a simple frown or a raised eyebrow can tell a whole story. Drama games and improvisation activities kept them on their toes, helping them build confidence and creativity. Role play was a huge hit, with students adding their own twists to familiar stories, bringing characters to life in their own unique way.

Grade 3 – Grade 6: Bringing Scripts to Life

Our older students took on a three-scene short play, diving deep into the process of staging a performance. From casting and character selection to blocking and staging, they made key decisions about how to bring their characters to life. We saw fantastic discussions about prop selection—students justified their choices and explored how objects can enhance storytelling. More importantly, they discovered how their own bodies play a huge role in expression, using movement and positioning to add depth to their performances.

It’s been an exciting week of creativity, teamwork, and storytelling. Looking forward to seeing how these skills develop in the coming weeks! 🎭✨
