Grade 7 students, this week, started practicing critical reading strategies (aka Active Reading Strategies) as the lead-in for their second unit in English. In teams, they discussed the strategies they used when reading the exposition of a Dick King-Smith novel. The strategies practiced are Questioning, Marking Up, Visualizing, and Predicting. These strategies for critical reading should be applied across the curriculum.
